Methods

I started this diary already in the beginning of my second year at the Academy. During the first semester of the year I worked on it less than during the second semester; my method, however, was the same all the time. I collected tidbits, weblinks, images, articles, news and whatnot both into a folder on my computer, my Finnish-language general purpose blog diary, and a shoebox. From these collected items I selected a couple to comment on in the diary every couple of weeks or so.

Sometimes there were larger gaps of time between selecting and blogging, sometimes I did it every week. I tried not to forget about the project at any time though, as I know that for myself it is easier to work a bit at a time than to try to rush things when the deadline nears. Also, had I not looked at what I had collected quite soon after collecting it, I might have already forgotten what it was supposed to be about and why I had kept it…

This is a blog, thus, it resides on the Internet. I tried to keep the medium in mind when selecting the format of presentation. If I had a newspaper clipping, for example, I found the same article on the Internet so that I could link to it. Luckily nowadays most of the media is on the ‘Net so this proved to be quite easy.

I plan to continue with this blog when the Diary assignment is over and the current form has been evaluated.
